------------------------ ------------- Start A Daycare: Daycare owners practising self discipline

Daycare owners practising self discipline

I heard a very interesting statement from Brian Tracy’s 21 Secrets of Success. One statement which struck me was, successful individuals and failure both don’t like to do the same things. But successful individuals do it anyhow because they know that it is important that they do it.

It is very easy to do something you love, you are happy to spend all your time and effort getting the job done, because you love it and you enjoy it. And most likely, because you are good at it, you excel and do well, leading to a huge boost to the ego. How often have we not put off an important but hateful task, hoping that it will go away or someone else will end up having to do it instead of you?

The truth it, life follows an 80/20 rule. Which means 80% of what you do only accounts for 20% of the revenue/impact. The other 20% is what really matters because it will account for 80% of the revenue/impact. And usually, the other very important 20% are tasks which nobody loves.

A successful daycare owner can look beyond his personal preference and recognises the importance of getting that 20% of the tasks done. A successful daycare owner will focus on completing the 20% simply because he knows he has to and it is important for his success, not because he likes it. That is self discipline.

Self discipline only happens when one does something that needs to be done, whether one likes it or not. That is definitely not an easy task to achieve and it takes a lot of willpower to overcome it. But once that is overcome, one will feel very good about oneself, one’s morale and self confidence will be greatly boosted.
